The 12U EC Hot Shots recently took first place at the Red Hot Chili Peppers tournament at Modesto's Rainbow Fields, earning a berth to the National Softball Association (NSA) World Series in the process.

The Hot Shots got off to a lukewarm start in Modesto, going 1-1-1 on the tournament's opening day, but picked up their play on Sunday when a six-run rally propelled them to a 12-10 victory over the Heat Fast Pitch and a place in the tournament's championship game, pitting them against the team that handed them their loss the previous day, the Galt Illusion.

The Hot Shots got out to an early lead and never relinquished it, taking the game and the title 8-2. The win makes it a clean sweep for the EC Hot Shot softball program, whose 14U, 13U and 10U teams had already qualified to compete in the NSA World Series at Reno this July.
