Bay Area Soccer Academy, a new soccer skills camp founded by Brentwood resident Jason Strong, held its first session at Oak Meadow Park last week.

The camp provided 38 local soccer enthusiasts, ages 5 to 13, with valuable instruction in all facets of the game, including field positions, shooting, dribbling, trapping, passing, penalty kicks, corner kicks and goalie skills. As an added treat, campers tested the velocity of their shots with a radar gun.

Each camper was provided a camp T-shirt, soccer ball and, on the last day of camp, an evaluation of skill and a certificate of achievement in recognition of all his or her hard work.

Bay Area Soccer Academy will be holding its second camp of the summer July 7 to 11 at Oak Meadow Park, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Half-day enrollment and extended care are available. For more information, contact 925-759-3064 or visit the academy on the Web at www.bayareasocceracademy.com.

Bay Area Soccer Academy thanks its sponsors Antioch/Brentwood Pediatric Dentistry, FIJI Water and Monogramming by Frichy whose help was invaluable in getting the camp started.
