For Cristina Gomez, co-owner of the California Bar and Grill in Antioch, it was the perfect opportunity at just the right time.
My father is a cook and has always wanted his own restaurant and my husband has always wanted his own bar, Gomez said. When we saw this place, we just went for it.

Located at the corner of Somersville Road and Delta Fair Boulevard, next to Ski Marine, the California Bar and Grill has been known by several different diner chain names, but Gomez insists customers can expect a very different dining experience this time around.
People think it's the same restaurant, just under new ownership, but it's not. It's way different, Gomez said. We want people to come and try our food and get to know us.
