The Brentwood Blast 10U travel baseball team captured its first championship trophy at the Summer Fun USSSA tournament held at Brentwood's Sunset Park.
In only its sixth tournament (and its first as a 10U team), the Blast qualified for its third straight championship game. Stirling Strong pitched a one-hitter in the semifinal game and got strong defensive play from Matthew Petures, Jack Mitchener, Michael Daysog and Matthew Willis as the Blast beat the Livermore Stars 8-0.
In the finals, Josh Shifflett tossed a no-hitter as the Blast defeated the Turlock Renegades 15-0. Will McCurdy, Devin Norris, Ethan Marchetti, Kamren Carey and Angelo Page led the offensive attack.
The Blast teams are preparing for the fall season and are looking for talented youth baseball players.
