A sore back? A tender shoulder? A throbbing knee? We all have our aches and pains at one time or another, but relief is closer than you might realize. MedSolutions, located in Brentwood, has the answers for your ailments.
We offer health, wellness and comfort products, said MedSolutions President Michael Williams. We get to help people, and we're proud to have the opportunity to make their lives easier.
When you think of medical supplies, you tend to think of bandages or canes, Williams said, but MedSolutions offers equipment not only to treat ailments but also to prevent them, such as bed rails to prevent falling out of bed.
People typically don't need assistance until the pain occurs, but the mission of MedSolutions is to provide cost-effective medical-device solutions and assisted technologies to its clients before or after pain arises.
We sell walkers, we sell canes, we sell commodes, we sell power chairs, but what we want to sell is the value, and the value is we want to make life easier through the products we sell, Williams said.
The company offers more than 8,000 products from hot and cold therapies to preventative footwear for diabetics to grips installed in the shower to prevent slipping.
MedSolutions, which is accredited by the Joint Commission, will release its first product catalog, featuring 1,500 items, by late October. The catalog will be a way to reach out to people in need who can't visit the MedSolutions office to place an order or don't have access to the company Web site, www.medsolutionsllc.com.
Williams said people often come in and say they had no idea there was a medical supply store in Brentwood. MedSolutions has been open since 2001, but Williams and his team of 16 expanded the business to offer a showroom of medical supplies in 2007. Now customers can come in and test more than 3000 products before making a purchase.
The team at MedSolutions strives to find the best product to fit the needs of each customer by describing the features and benefits of each option and then letting the customer decide. If you name the pain, Williams said they will find the best match for your needs.
MedSolutions offers free home delivery and assembly. To get the business off the ground, Williams said MedSolutions has catered to 13 counties in the Bay Area, but he would like MedSolutions to become more present in far East County.
Williams, a certified assistive technology supplier who has the credentials to fit and evaluate patients, grew up in Discovery Bay and graduated from Liberty High School in 1992. It feels good to come back and give back to Brentwood, he said, and serve the people you've grown up with.
After graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in kinesiology, Williams worked as a representative in the medical field but didn't like what he saw. I felt it could be done better, he said. There had to be a better way to work with customers. The challenge is to offer the best solutions and I saw gaps in the system. Services could be more efficient to fill the customers' needs.
Williams saw the need for such a service in Brentwood, creating MedSolutions as a way to better serve people, and it has become a family affair. Williams' mother, Peggy, is the vice president of the company, and his father is involved as well.
Even his grandmother, Betty Bowlby, works in the office as the collections supervisor. She's familiar with the products sold at MedSolutions because she's used them herself. Both of Bowlby's knees have been replaced.
Ask me about it, she said, and I'll tell you it works.
Williams, who played tennis for Liberty, has used products sold by MedSolutions for his personal use, but he also tests out all the products before they go out onto the sales floor. I believe in the products we bring in, Williams said. I think we are the best-kept secret around.
