Active Oakley seniors go for it

The City of Oakley has partnered with Liberty Adult Education to provide affordable exercise and craft classes to active seniors in the Oakley area.

Gentle Yoga Stretch class will help seniors explore body awareness, breath and movement, increase flexibility and tone muscles and organs. The next session starts on Oct. 17 and will be held Friday mornings from 8 to 9 a.m. in the White House Community Annex, 204 Second St. in Oakley. The cost is $20 for a six-week session, and the registration deadline is Oct. 10.

Exercise and Your Arthritis class will show seniors how exercise can reduce arthritis pain and stiffness. The class includes health education, warm-ups, movement activities, exercise, endurance, cool-down, strength, balance, and coordination activities. The instructor is certified by the Arthritis Foundation. Session one will be held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. starting Nov. 4 in the Oakley Council Chambers at City Hall, 3231 Main St. The cost is $15 for a seven-week session, and the registration deadline is Oct. 28.

Oldies but Goodies Arts and Crafts class is designed for seniors who enjoy crafts, socializing, and helping other seniors. No prior craft experience is needed. Supplies will be provided. The next session will be held Friday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to noon starting Nov. 7 in the White House Community Annex, 204 Second St. in Oakley. The cost is $15 for a six-week class session, and the registration deadline is Oct. 31.
