Cap's Oak Street Bar & Grill will hold a Pre-Thanksgiving Comedy Night aimed at launching the holidays with a belly laugh or two.
The main attraction at the Nov. 26 show will be Candy Churilla, who appeared recently on NBC's Last Comic Standing and who says was born and raised in Scranton, Penn., where she learned to drink.
As a little girl, she dreamed of escaping Scranton to make a better life for herself, and she finally has in Oakland. This Bay Area bachelorette's life consists of one misunderstanding, man and cocktail after another. What this lovably twisted comic lacks in self-control, she makes up for in self-involvement.
Churilla won Rooftop Comedy's Comic of the Month Contest in August of 2006 and was a finalist in the Ladies-only Comedy Competition at Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco. She has appeared on the stage in Comedy Noir's Jesus Roast as Mary Magdalene, Hitler Roast as Amy Winehouse, and has made her debut in the nationally touring Five Funny Females at the historic Purple Onion.
Opening for Churilla will be Jimmy Ragin' Cajun Giovanni. Tickets for the show are $15. Cocktails start at 8 p.m., and the show begins at 9.
