The Oct. 3 section of Siren Sounds is a very informative section of the newspaper, which informs people about local crimes. Many people in the local cities that are smaller, such as Brentwood and Antioch, are glad to read the dispatch logs. For example, the Sept. 28 Antioch log was much more informative than the other log entries. It informed what happened to a victim, perpetrator and exactly where the crime occurred.

I think that all of the logs should be written this way. I have found that many of the log entries are uninformative and lacking important details. An example of this would be the Sept. 25 at 9:51 a.m. entry. It notifies the residents of Brentwood about a person who was making harassing phone calls. This cannot be changed, as there is really nothing anyone can do to avoid the calls.

Crimes that we can do nothing about should not be listed in this section. The larger crimes such as shootings, noise complaints, burglaries, etc. are acceptable, informative for the public and have a direct effect on them.

I understand that you only report what the police supply to you, but if that information doesn't affect the public, such as crime, we can probably do without it. We have seen the potential of this section, so why bring it down with uninformative entries?
