Editor:

It is very unfortunate that you did not include a copy of the map for the proposed boat storage district. I believe that most of the people of Discovery Bay would not support it, knowing that the area starts at the main entrance of Discovery Bay and goes all along Highway 4 well past Safeway. Storage facilities all along that stretch of Highway 4 are inappropriate and would be unsightly.

This is a maneuver to make an admitted illegal boat storage facility compliant. Wouldn't it have been nice if the county and the Discovery Bay CSD looked the other way while they decided what to do about the storage issue before requiring everyone to move their boats?

Supervisor Piepho tried to get the original 1-mile ordinance extended to 2 miles and it was shot down. This is her second bite at the apple with this special district. Supervisor Piepho's statements that people are forced to go to Livermore and Pleasanton is once again an exaggeration of the facts. A quick check indicated that there are still facilities in Brentwood, Bethel Island and Oakley that have lots of storage available.

Unless you want to look at rows and rows of boat storage on Highway 4 directly across from your community, I suggest that you take a good look at this ordinance before believing that this is a good thing.
