The glitz and glamour of Tinsletown made stars of everyone last weekend at the annual Discovery Bay Parade of Lights extravaganza. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the theme for this year's parade was Hollywood in Discovery Bay! and thousands of residents lined the streets to help mark the official start of the holiday season.

We were thrilled to have such a great turnout this year for the parade, said Parade Director Amanda Dove. We (the Chamber of Commerce) had well over 4,000 people come out to watch, and more than a 1,000 parade participants. All of the parade entries were wonderful, some even amazing. It was a wonderful evening.

Floats included tributes to Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman and the ultimate Hollywood icon Oscar himself as participants from the Boys and Girl Scouts to Timber Point and Discovery Bay Elementary schools made their way down the parade route as spectators cheered and cameras flashed.

We had some unexpected and thrilling exhibitions this year that really added to the parade, said Dove. It takes hundreds of volunteers and sponsors to make this incredible event happen each year; we can't thank them all enough.

Masters of ceremonies Erin Pellaton and Glen Sparks kept the evening running on course and on time. And parade judges Terri Tonge, Robert Green, Mike Guzzardo, Clint Furr and Marla Luckhardt had a difficult job choosing from all of this year's impressive entries. Congratulations to all the award winners:
