If you're flying along Lone Tree Way looking for a place to eat, put down the landing gear and settle into Brentwood's new restaurant Wingstop.

Once you've safely parked at the terminal at the Empire Crossing Shopping Center, walk inside and check the arrivals and departures board to find a hearty variety of chicken wing combinations that will satisfy any hunger. There are also boneless wing strips and an assortment of side dishes such as bourbon baked beans, coleslaw and pearl potato salad.

What makes this aviation-themed restaurant unique from the other chicken joints in town is that all meals are made fresh. We offer a different product, said Marisa Mathis, Wingstop manager. Our food is fresh to order. Nothing sits under a heat lamp. We are not a fast-food place. We are quick service. You have to wait a little longer, but in 14 minutes you'll have freshly cooked chicken covered in one of our nine signature flavors. It's worth the wait.

Mathis said Wingstop has a flavor to suit anyone's taste buds. For children, she recommends Teriyaki or Hawaiian flavors, which hit the sweet spot without overwhelming the palate. The Hickory Smoked BBQ wings give you the joy of slow-cooked barbecue flavor without the battle against the winter elements at the grill.

For the more adventurous diners, there are lemon pepper and garlic parmesan flavors. The lemon pepper sauce has such a tangy sour taste that you can't help but smile about when you take a bite, and the garlic parmesan is almost better than mom's cooking.

And of course, there are the hot wings. For the light-hearted, Wingstop's Mild wings will give you a taste of the restaurant's signature flavor without burning your tongue. For the average hot-wing connoisseur, Original Hot will tingle your taste buds. But if you want a little more kick, there's the Cajun. Cajun is like Original Hot, only you can see all the additional seasons freckled on the wings to give that extra jolt that will leave your lips tingling.

For the most courageous eater, there's the hottest Wingstop flavor, Atomic. Just a dab of this sauce will send a burning sensation down your throat, but it's ideal for those who love their food hot and spicy.

Mathis said she recommends Original Hot, Hickory Smoke BBQ, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan. She said that after working for Wingstop for two years, she hasn't dared to try the Atomic wings. I can't bring myself to try it. Just the smell is enough for me.

All customers are welcome to sample a flavor before making a purchase.

Wings and strips can be purchased in combo meals for $8.99 that include French fries, a dipping sauce and a drink. Wingstop offers a variety of order sizes, from 10 to 100 wings.

You can also buy in bulk for a party or special occasion. Mathis said she can have an order of 1,000 wings made in a little more than an hour. To guarantee quick service, Mathis encourages customers to call in their order in advance or order online.

Wingstop is happy to work its schedule around yours. When you order by phone or computer you can select a time when you want to pick up your food. Wingstop also caters events, offering various party platters and package deals. Catered orders must be placed 24 hours in advance.

Wingstop, open 11 a.m. to midnight seven days a week, is located at 6471 Lone Tree Way in Brentwood. To place a phone order, call 925-240-9495. To place an order online, visit www.wingstop.com.
