It’s back – so ladies, this year don your blond Marilyn wigs and glamorous gowns. Gentlemen, assume your Paul Newman cool or James Dean sultry aura. Or transform yourself into a star of any Hollywood era and come as yourself. Costumes are fun, but optional.

The Byron-Delta Lions’ (of Discovery Bay) third annual East Bay Idol takes the stage Sunday, June 10 at the DeLuna Ranch in Brentwood. The event features a fun-for-all, combo karaoke singing competition (for prize money), plus dinner and dancing.

“This event has helped us raise tens of thousands of dollars to continue our support of numerous local children’s charities,” said Lions President Paulette Doyle. “This event is great fun event for everyone, and we’re proud to bring it back. This year we’re positively thrilled with a generous sponsorship from Brentwood’s Precision Cabinets.”

Last year’s “Summer of Love” theme brought out born-again flower children. This year the spotlight shines “Hooray for Hollywood,” featuring glamour, a stars’ Walk of Fame, and live music by the Summerset Big Band. The karaoke DJs, Dave and Christina of DC Enterprises, plus Famous Dave’s barbecue make their encore appearances.

Admission is $25. To purchase tickets or for more information on being a karaoke contestant or event sponsor, call 634-6045.
