Brentwood City Councilman Bob Taylor is asking residents, civic groups and local businesses to donate roses to decorate the Veterans Park monument for the Fourth of July.

"They can be store bought or from your garden," Taylor said. "All we ask is that they come in clusters of a dozen. Any color is fine."

Flowers may be delivered any time of day from June 30 through July 4.

Donations may be brought to the park and left at the veterans monument. Taylor said that the Brentwood Women's Garden Club will come to the park on a daily basis to place the flowers in an attractive arrangement. Parks and Recreation will make sure the flowers are watered regularly.

Taylor said the flowers will honor all men and women who have served in the armed forces.

"I just feel in my heart that this is the right thing to do to show our appreciation to those who have served our country," Taylor said. "Many of them have paid the ultimate price."
