A summer camp organized around the camper's choice might seem like a once-in-a-lifetime fantasy, but for many who attended Prewett Water Park's Waves Teen Camp, it was a week-to-week reality.

Leader Kelly Brown and her staff of six trained counselors let campers decide what they wanted to do from morning to afternoon. Kids enjoyed arts and crafts, games, swimming, cheer-offs and team competitions.

"I love it and the kids really have a good time," said Brown, adding that it makes her happy to take part in their summer break. "Our motto is be safe, have fun and show respect to everyone."

Each morning, Brown started campers with a group activity, then a cool-off in the pool for an hour. During lunch, kids listened to music and relaxed, then split back into groups for games and crafts. Kids also took trips to the movie theater and local fast food restaurants.

"This is really cool," said Jason Pitak, 10. "The slide, the friends, the pools, the games and everything is really great."

This is the 10th year for the teen camp and seven sessions are held each summer. For more information about the camp, visit www.ci.antioch.ca.us or call 776-3070.
