Antioch police seized 171 marijuana plants and $30,000 in plant growing equipment at a home in the 700 block of West 11th Street on Aug. 9 after a neighbor called to report seeing someone trying to break into the house, according to a police press release.

When officers arrived, the man was gone, but a window was open. Officers tried to make contact with someone inside the house, but received no response. They then entered the residence to check for other suspects and the welfare of any residents, and to try and confirm if a crime had been committed.

When patrol officers noticed marijuana was being cultivated inside the house, they called narcotics detectives to the scene and obtained a search warrant. Three of the four bedrooms were being used to cultivate the marijuana in separate stages, according to the press release.

It is believed that only one person was living at the residence, and that person is being sought by police for questioning.
