Herrick, who has been teaching tennis for more than 20 years throughout California, comes to Discovery Bay after two years as the Tennis Director at the Chico Racket Club and Resort. He comes here with two main goals: to satisfy and improve the current memberships and attract new members to the club with extensive membership drives.

"Being a tennis director, I wear a lot of hats," Herrick said. "I know how to run all the stuff on a tennis court, but I also know how to set up and run membership programs."
One of the main programs he has already utilized is Cardio Tennis, which is available to non-members. Participants go through various high-energy tennis drills with music in the background to keep the blood pumping. It's open to anyone over the age of 18, and is free for the first half hour, and $10 per hour after that.
Herrick looks to bring his many years of tennis expertise to good use in Discovery Bay. He says his specialty is bringing players to the next level, and enjoys coaching the "Pee-Wee" ages of 4 to 5. However, players of any age can come to him for pointers or training.
A player himself since age 12, Herrick is still an active player in the United States Tennis Association.
"I'd like to come in, use my 20 years of experience and see if I can make a difference," Herrick said. "Discovery Bay has a lot of potential, and I'd love to see some support from the members and the community."
