New officers take post

American Legion Post 202 recently announced the election of its new officers. Commanding the post is nine-year Legionnaire, 26-year Brentwood resident and Marine Corps veteran Ken Barry. He served in the Corps from 1971 to 1976, and commanded the post from 2001 to 2002.

First Vice is 23-year Brentwood Legionnaire John Becerra. Becerra feels strongly that he is able to help community succeed through his involvement in the American Legion, especially through his ability to communicate with Hispanic organizations.

Second Vice is Joe Velasquez. Velasquez is the current quartermaster and has a vast knowledge organizational structure. He has been a Legionnaire in various posts for a total of 24 years. A Korean War veteran, Velasquez is the past president of the Veterans Memorial Hall Board of Trustees.

Third Vice is 16-year Legionnaire Renne Beasley, Jr. Beasley has been a Brentwood Legionnaire only in the Brentwood post. A Vietnam veteran who has served proudly in the Navy, Beasley is known to for his openness and friendliness.

The new the Post Adjutant is Drew Hanson, who brings integrity and knowledge to the position. Hanson prides himself on doing things right. Everyone admires Drew for his organization and paying attention to deals.

Any veteran of the armed forces can become a member of the American Legion. All you have to do is come to a monthly meeting on any second Wednesday of the month. For more membership information, contact the hall at 634-0736 or www.americanlegion202.org.
