As scientist Peter Pedrotti explained how the muscles surrounding the human eye function, eager students swarmed to sneak a closer peek at the detailed plastic model he held in his left hand.

"Who was it that said he could roll his eyes?" asked Pedrotti. A hand sprang above the crowd, a boy shouted, "Me, me!" and proudly rolled his eyeballs.

"See what he is doing with his eyes," said Pedrotti as he pointed to parts on the model. "He is pulling the muscles around his eyes."

This and other fun hands-on activities held the attention of campers last week at the Prewett Park Family Center. During the Brain, Blood and Bones class, kids ages 6 to 10 explored the science behind cells, organs, muscles and bones. Campers also performed experiments to better understand the five senses, the brain, breathing and circulation.
