The Liberty Union High School District Educational Foundation is holding its inaugural Oktoberfest event, "One Ale of a Good Time," supporting the enhancement and enrichment of educational programs benefiting all students within the district. The event will be held Oct. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Jack Roddy Ranch on Chadbourne Road in Brentwood. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event.

Ten micro-breweries from Northern California have donated beer and Ribeye's and Brentwood Fine Meats are donating bratwurst sausages and tri-tip sandwiches for the event's guests to enjoy. Beckmann's bakery is donating German pastries and other baked goods, and a local "Oompa" band will provide music.

The Liberty Union High School District Educational Foundation began formal operations in July of l997. The foundation annually awards scholarships to students at Liberty, Freedom and La Paloma High Schools.

To date, the foundation has raised over $77,000 and has awarded over 40 grants to teachers, totaling approximately $55,000. The foundation has set a fund-raising goal of $100,000 that would enable grants to be awarded on the basis of interest earned by the principal investment.
