The East Diablo United, a Class I 12U girls soccer team with the East Diablo Youth Soccer League, left the Fremont Celtic Harvest tournament with T-shirts and a team trophy, but it was the shiny gold medals around the players' necks that truly pleased the coaches.

The United opened the CYSA Division I tournament by dispatching three teams early and easily. On the final day, the Brentwood team faced the Stockton Blue Lightning in a game that remained tied at zero past regulation play. After a scoreless golden goal situation, the United reached the back of the net four of five times on its penalty kick attempts. United goalie Sophia Gumas made two huge saves against the Lightning's attempts to score, sealing the win and the title for her team.

Coaches Jackie Withers and Francisco "Paco" Gonzalez were extremely proud of their players, noting the team's ability to "make improvements quickly."

The United is tied for first in the Golden State Soccer League. This is its second tournament championship. United players are Taylor Allen, Caitlin Cardoza, Anna Carter, Makenzie Cast, TC Cooper, Arianna D'Eredita, Viviana Diaz, Daniella Dubon, Selena Gonzalez, Sophia Gumas, Mikayla Monier, Alicia Palma, Rachel Robbert, Brianna Taormina and Gabriella Withers.
