Brentwod Tammy George always knew her Jack Russell terrier, Buster, was cute, but a recent contest held by the Oakland A's confirmed it.

When George visited her favorite team's Web site in the spring and saw a contest for the cutest pet photo, she knew she had it in the bag.

"The photo of the previous winner was a Golden Retriever with an A's scarf. I knew I could be more creative than that," George said. "My dog is so photogenic and is used to getting his picture taken."

George dressed Buster in an A's jersey that she took from a teddy bear and posed him on home plate of the Liberty High School baseball field with a bat and ball. She had a friend take the photos and Buster took care of the rest.

Oakland A's players and coaches agreed that Buster the dog is the cutest pet. The Brentwood pooch won the cutest pet photo contest held by the A's this summer.

In early August, George learned Buster was selected by Oakland A's players and coaches as the cutest pet out of 300 entries. Unfortunately for Buster, however, the prize for winning wasn't a lifetime supply of dog bones.

George received four field-level tickets to a game of her choice and a souvenir package. At the Sept. 4 home game against the Texas Rangers, Buster's photo graced the Diamond Vision screen at McAfee Coliseum.

"It was so cute. His photo was on one side of the screen and his stats were on the other side just like they do for the players," George said. "We had a great time at that game. It was a lot of fun."

But this wasn't the first time Buster has basked in the limelight. As a competitive show dog, he travels the country with his proud owner, competing in events that test agility, endurance, trailing abilities and jumping.

Next up for Buster is a trip to Baltimore for the Jack Russell Terrier Club's National Trials.
