Halloween is creeping up fast - and what better time to scare up your old, no-longer-used eyeglasses for a good cause? Freedom High School's National Honor Society students will be going door to door on Oct. 31 collecting gently worn eye and sunglasses.

Sponsored in conjunction with Lens Crafters Corporation, Sight Night recycles used glasses, converting them into new specs for those in need. The nationwide program was chosen by the Freedom group this year as a way to fulfill its community service requirements.

"We chose this program because we thought it was a nice way to reach out to the community and let them become involved in something so worthwhile," said Michaela Krueger. "Last year we did Habitat for Humanity, and this year we wanted to do something even more local, especially for kids.

"Unfortunately we can't get to every house in Oakley. I wish we could. But people can call the high school and get on a list, and then we will come out and pick up whatever

their items. All they have to do is call."

To get involved, contact Freedom High School National Honors Society Instructor Tom Lindemuth at 625-5900.
