"We are interested in developing long-term relationships with people," said Scheer, pointing out that big electronics stores can't offer such personal service. "If you went there, then came here, you'd buy here."
Scheer Home Systems, located in the old YMCA building on Main Street, sells, installs and services the latest in home theater systems, multi-room audio and video systems, home theater furniture, home lighting systems, structured cabling systems, telephone systems, home cleaning systems, security systems and monitoring systems.
"Our expertise ranges from designing and installing multi-room remote controls for music and home theater systems to home security with 24-hour monitoring," said Scheer. "We have made great efforts to pick equipment that is reliable. We also make sure the customer knows what they have and how to use it."

For the past 27 years, Scheer has provided the Bay Area with residential and commercial installations by skilled and licensed installers who focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
"We strive to be the best in our industry," said Scheer, adding that all installations are integrated seamlessly into the home to match any decor and will be executed in a timely fashion.
Scheer's business was formerly located in Concord, and in April he began transforming the old Y recreation facility into a homey office and store front featuring plasma televisions, carefully selected merchandise, cozy furniture and a home theater setup.
Scheer finds that most returns made to big electronic businesses are due to not understanding how to work the product.
"There is a significant amount of companies doing this work without licenses, including big-name businesses," said Scheer. "The consumer should really know these things. I have personally installed everything there is and we are very technical."
Scheer began working with electronics in 1985 with a partner in Los Angeles; then moved to Concord a few years later to start his own business.
"I think I've always been interested in electronics. It grows on you," said Scheer. "When I was younger, I never thought I'd be doing this. In just a few years we were doing more than our competitors."
He started his career installing alarm systems and moved up to speakers and telephone systems until the business grew into the full-service company it is today.
"We are definitely not a Circuit City or Best Buy," said Scheer. "Our approach is much different."
Scheer Home Systems is located at 3460 Main St. and open Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.HomeScheerSystems.com or call 625-7580.
