This Monday, the players will put what they've learned this season to the test as Freedom hosts the BVAL tournament. All nine schools in the league will compete in singles and doubles action to earn a bid to the upcoming North Coast Section tournament.
Against Heritage last week, Karissa Hansen earned the 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 1 singles position over Ali Ward. Hansen, who moved up from the No. 2 position in mid September, is 6-8 individually on the season.
Lindsey McKeen, Rachael Monge and Erika Cruz each garnered victories at the No. 2, 3 and 4 positions, respectively.
In doubles action, senior Whitney Richards teamed up with freshman Sarah Osborn to earn the 7-5, 6-2 win over Heritage's Teresa Weins and Sara Lamoreaux. Since teaming up against Antioch on Oct. 5, the duo has won all four of its matches.
Other doubles teams that beat Heritage include Jamie Crabaugh and Nicole Churchill, and Amy Sidrian and Emma Fister.
Freedom's junior varsity team is 12-9 overall and 11-3 in league matches after last week's 6-1 victory over Heritage.
The Falcons ended the season this week with matches against Liberty on Tuesday and Pittsburg on Thursday. Both occurred after the Oakley Press went to print.
Monday's league tournament begins at 8 a.m.
