Contra Costa County District III Supervisor Mary N. Piepho, in partnership with the Contra Costa County Building Inspection Department, has announced that a Contra Costa County Code Enforcement officer will be actively inspecting in the Town of Discovery Bay and surrounding areas for code enforcement violations.

"Recently several concerns have been brought to our office by members of the Discovery Bay community regarding code enforcement issues and potential violations," said Piepho. "We are responding by asking our Code Enforcement Officer to visit the Town of Discovery Bay on a regular basis. If the community's residents have particular issues or areas of concerns, reports can be confidentially reported to my office at 240-7260, through a Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District Code Enforcement Liaison, David Piepho, 634-1131, or directly to the Code Enforcement Office at 427-8850."

The majority of concerns recently reported have been in relation to garbage cans being left out for more than 36 hours, and trailers and boats being parked in front yards. In response, the Code Enforcement Department will be specifically monitoring garbage cans, trailers and boats according to Residential Property Nuisances code 720-2.006, as well as any other violations. A current list of Contra Costa County Ordinances for the Discovery Bay area can be obtained by visiting the county's Web site, www.co.contra-costa.ca.us, and clicking on the Building Inspection Department. Current ordinances for Contra Costa County are located under the News and Information section.

For further questions or concerns, contact the East County Building Inspection Department at 427-8850 or Supervisor Piepho's office at 240-7260.
