It's time again: the Brentwood Regional Community Chest Christmas Basket Program shifted into high gear this week as volunteers sort donations and begin preparing the baskets that will be distributed to some 500 families next week. While volunteers have a pretty good selection to choose from for the younger boys, organizers say food donations are still needed, as are toys for both boys and girls 10 and older.

Also needed are lots of volunteers for the food sorting and packing next Friday, Dec. 15. Individuals and families can simply show up at Brentwood Elementary School, 200 Griffith Lane, while Scouts and other community groups are encouraged to first call 634-1441, ext. 29 to find out which shift (5 to 7 p.m. and/or 7 to 9 p.m.) needs them the most.

Donations may be dropped in collection barrels in many locations around town, including: Prudential Real Estate, 2440 Sand Creek Road #12; Post Office, 18 Oak St.; Summerwood Properties, 3150 Balfour Road, Suite C; and the Marsh Creek Apartments office, 7251 Brentwood Blvd.
