The 2006 West Coast Jamboree, which runs from Dec. 27-30, will feature 10 divisions at five different venues. The teams come from as far away as Alaska and New Jersey. Host high schools include Liberty, Heritage, Freedom, Deer Valley and Pittsburg.
The top-flight Platinum Division features host Deer Valley along with out-of-area teams such as Peddie School of New Jersey, Millikin High of Long Beach, Bishop Manogue of Reno and Santa Monica High. Local teams in that division include Berkeley, Fairfield, Sheldon and Sacramento. Deer Valley meets up with Millikin in the first round of the tournament on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
The Diamond Division, hosted by Liberty, features Redwood High of Visalia and Harvard-Westlake of Los Angeles, in addition to Central of Fresno. Local teams vying for the crown include Modesto Christian, Lincoln of Stockton, Vallejo, Castlemont and George Washington. Liberty High plays Sir Francis Drake on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
The Sapphire Division features host Pittsburg along with Grace Davis of Modesto, Irvington, Vanden, Acalanes, Sanger, Paloma Valley and Pacific Palisades, among others. Pittsburg takes on James Logan Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
The Emerald Division at Freedom High includes Carondelet, San Leandro, Pinole Valley, Petaluma, Granada, Montgomery-Santa Rosa, St. Mary's-Berkeley and St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo.
Freedom also hosts the Tanzanite and Jade divisions. The host Falcons will vie with Casa Roble, Leland, John Swett, Campolindo, Dublin, Benecia and Monterey Trail in the Jade Division. Freedom plays Campolindo on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
This year Heritage High gets into the mix hosting the Agate Division with Division IV schools such as University High School of San Francisco, Kings Academy, Berean Christian, St. Joseph Notre Dame, St. Vincent and Anchorage Christian of Alaska. Heritage plays Contra Costa Christian in round one on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
The Ruby and Pearl divisions will play at Deer Valley, while the Onyx Division is hosted by Liberty.
