Church members at Destiny Christian Center shared gifts, groceries and goodness with local families on Saturday at the fourth annual Community Christmas Celebration.

Children were invited up to the front stage to receive a festively wrapped toy before receiving a visit from Santa Claus who, of course, was bearing more gifts.

The celebration included a nativity play performed by children, and a sing-along to Christmas classics such as "Silent Night," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Joy to the World" and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" led by Kathy Ellerby and Francisco Diaz.

Families also enjoyed a hearty holiday meal and a question game with prizes. Each family also received a bag of groceries.

"Every year we want to be a blessing to the community and share a love for Christ," said Bishop Gregory Bell, senior pastor. "We want to also thank our sponsors for their tremendous support, especially the Oakley Police."

Sponsors also included Toys for Tots, Brentwood Meat Company, Antioch Delta Swim Team, Trader Joe's, Party's 4 You and Dream Dinners.

The Destiny Christian Center, located at 132 O'Hara Ave., will hold a New Year's Eve Celebration beginning at 9 p.m. It will include a free meal, testimonies, inspirational music and oil anointing. For more information, call 679-1361.
