The East Diablo United, a 12U girls Class I competitive soccer team from the East Diablo Youth Soccer League, capped off another fantastic season, winning the NorCal Premier Soccer League with a 7-1 record. The decorated team went 34-7-4 during its entire 2006 campaign.

The United, which opened its 2006 season winning titles at the SCC Breakers Cup and the Fremont Harvest CYSA Division I tournaments, went on to clinch the prestigious Golden State Soccer League Championship over powerhouse teams from Pleasanton and San Ramon.

Two weeks ago the United beat the Dublin Fighters 2-1 in the championship match of the NorCal Premier League tournament to win the banner, cup and championship t-shirts.

"These girls are so unselfish on the field. They really play as a team and it shows," said head coach Jackie Withers. "Against the Fighters they played composed, moving the ball with finesse and with continued quick transitions. I'm really proud of this team."

The United squad scored a pair of goals early in the first half after which Dublin was awarded a penalty shot with just one second left on the clock. The shot reached the back of the net, giving Dublin its first and only point of the game. Both teams were held scoreless in the second half and the United cruised to the 2-1 victory.

The United players include defenders Rachel Robbert, TC Cooper, Brianna Taormina and Daniella Dubon, goalie Sophia Gumas, midfielders Taylor Allen, Caitlin Cardoza, Viviana Diaz, Anna Carter, Arianna D'Eredita and Selena Gonzalez and forwards Alicia Palma, Mikayla Monier, McKenzie Cast and Gabriella Withers.
