St. Nick was there in spirit along with Rudolph, jingling bells, Santa hats, holly wreath headbands and smiles galore. But the stars of the show were the first and second graders at Oakley Elementary School, who performed last week at their annual holiday songfest.

Full of energy and excitement, some confident and others more shy, the students performed a dozen classic tunes including "Feliz Navidad" and the perennial favorite "Must be Santa." Some sang acapella, some were accompanied on the piano and others recited a holiday poem or two.

The 20-minute program was the culmination of weeks of rehearsals, and first grade teacher Shannon Senior couldn't have been more impressed.

"Everybody did just great," said Senior. "We practiced for a half hour every day for almost three weeks. That's a lot of time for little ones. They worked very hard, we're very proud of them."
