Grab a plastic bib and your appetite and make a beeline down to Harvest Park Bowl for some of the messiest yet tastiest barbecue around.

That's right, on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4, some of far East County's finest barbecuers will be lighting up their grills to compete for the renowned title of Brentwood's BBQ King.

For the sixth year in a row, dozens of grilling enthusiasts will put their marinades, dry rubs and secret sauces to the test to see who the best is among them, all in an effort to raise money for the Police Activities League and the East Contra Costa Historical Society.

And while you're enjoying a satisfying plate of barbecue, beans and salad you can sit and watch the Indianapolis Colts take on the Chicago Bears from one of the Bowl's 44 TVs and five big screens.

Tickets are $25 per person ($30 the day of the event), $15 for kids 12 and under. Or for $60, families can purchase a package deal that includes passes for two adults and up to three kid's meals.

Food will be served between 2 and 4 p.m. and take-out is available (pre-orders only).

To get your tickets in advance, drop by the Bowl at 5000 Balfour Road; Brentwood Press, 248 Oak St.; or Brentwood Fine Meats, 3877 Walnut Blvd.
