Knightsen Elementary School District board of directors recently held off on the final decision to name the district's second school off Bixler Road, concluding that the new school name should not be that of a person. The board will continue deliberating on the subject at its March 14 meeting.

In other district news, the district will meet in closed session with its legal council regarding the Knightsen water issue. The date has yet to be set. According to district Superintendent Vickey Rinehart, the concerns of the district, along with options, can be explored through a meeting with legal council.

KTAC and KCSD to meet with legal council

The Knightsen Town Advisory Council and the Knightsen Community Services District will meet in coming weeks with a legal firm specializing in public laws. A special closed session meeting notice will be posted when the time and date are confirmed.

The two entities are adamant on seeking resolutions to the Knightsen community water issue. The meeting is to explore options to bring closure on the issue. The community well was transferred to Diablo Water of Oakley two years ago without notifying 80 percent of the landowners within the area.

In addition, districts within the area claim they were not notified. The transfer of Knightsen water was discovered in a newspaper article a couple months ago. County officials and Supervisor Piepho's office have been made aware of the problem. Piepho's office has scheduled a private meeting for February with LAFCO, KCSD, KTAC, Contra Costa Public Works, and a county administrator's representative to discuss the well issue.
