The Freedom softball team rebounded from a tough 1-0 loss to Heritage on March 20 with a shutout victory of its own last Thursday, as the Falcons defeated Liberty 5-0. Hannah Williams struck out 11, as the Falcons improved their record in Bay Valley Athletic League play to 2-1.

The team split a double-header Saturday, falling to Archbishop Mitty 1-0, then going on to defeat Clovis West 8-0, thanks in part to RBI doubles by Williams and senior catcher Daniel Gomez. Melissa Coe went 2-for-3 to lead the offense in the shutout loss to Mitty.

The Falcons find themselves in unfamiliar territory this season, currently holding down fourth place in the BVAL standings, looking up at Deer Valley, Heritage and Clayton Valley. Freedom hosted Pittsburg Tuesday and traveled to Clayton Valley on Thursday after the Press went to print.

The Falcons return to the diamond Tuesday, April 3, when they travel to Deer Valley to take on Emily Allard and the Lady Wolverines.
