It's time for the fundraising and "just for fun" golf tournaments to hit the Balfour golf corridor in Brentwood.

The combining of Deer Ridge and Shadow Lakes into a shared facility hits the jackpot with the opening of the new banquet facilities at Deer Ridge.

Tonight the facility hosts a fundraiser for Krey Elementary School, which drew a field of 200 for a golf tournament. "They sold out the facilities for Shadow Lakes and an additional 60 tee times at Deer Ridge," said sales manager Tim Eldridge. "Another 100 people are coming to the dinner."

Meanwhile, the Brentwood Golf Course continues its policy of hosting "Jack and Jill" tournaments and other local events in addition to its outside contests. The first Jack and Jill event of the year brought out a field of 88 men and women to play one of its couples contests. The popular couples events allow teams to select other teams they wish to play with, and afterward all head to Nines for gourmet dinner.

Using a Royal Flush format, the couples opened cards bearing envelops and combined the scores. First place went to the foursome of Mark and Sue Keleman and Bob Jacobsen and Silvia Amaral.
