Although the 12U Delta Diamonds traveling softball team competed in the 14U bracket at the two-day Tracy Titans tournament on April 21, they walked away with the first-place trophy, besting six other teams.

The Diamonds went 5-0, allowing only three runs in five games. Excellent pitching and outstanding defense resulted in three shutouts. In the championship game against the USA Elite from Stockton, the Diamonds earned the 3-1 victory and a new Miken bat for the team. The Diamonds have won three of five tournaments this season, placing second in the other two. The team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in Power Points by the United States Specialty Sports Association.

The Delta Diamonds will travel to Orlando, Fla. in July to compete in the USSSA World Series. To help offset the costs, the team is hosting a Cinco de Mayo fundraiser on May 5 at the Prewitt Family Water Park in Antioch. Tickets are $25 and include a night of dinner and dancing. The event will also feature a sports memorabilia raffle. For tickets, call Julie at 628-0336. Those interested in sponsoring the team should contact Ron Rivers at 260-3961.
