Brentwood's Macie Kahler, 6, was named the Lead Line Champion of the 2007 Winter Silver Buckle Highpoint Series at the D'Alonzo Ranch in Stockton on April 21. Macie and her 22-year-old quarter horse Zippy participated in seven of the Western Division series' 10 shows, earning the highest overall points, for which she received the coveted Silver Buckle.

In the Lead Line event, adults lead participants ages 6 and under around the arena, where riders are judged on equitation (how they sit atop the horse), pleasure (how the horse moves) and trail (the rider's ability to direct the horse around an obstacle course).

Macie, a Krey Elementary first grader, is in her first year of competitive horseback riding. She currently takes lessons from her grandmother, Linda McCaffrey, who lives in Byron.
