Gusty winds played a role in most of the events at last weekend's Bay Valley Athletic League Track and Field Championships at Clayton Valley High School, but it was the athletes with solid form and strong technique that pushed through to earn individual league titles.

After going undefeated in the dual meet season, Deer Valley's varsity girls team earned seven individual titles and two relay titles en route to its third consecutive BVAL team crown. De La Salle once again commanded the competition at the varsity boys level, winning its 15th consecutive team title.

The top six finishers in each event advance to Saturday's North Coast Section Tri Valley Area Meet at Granada High School in hopes of earning a spot at the NCS Meet of Champions May 25-26 at UC Berkeley.
