Discovery Bay Garden Club's May Home of the Month

Spring has sprung at 710 Beaver Lane. A painter's pallet of primary colors leaps into view as you approach the home.

Pale flowers are blended softly and bordered by cobalt blue lobelias and Johnny jump-ups. The birch trees and boulders on the side lawns are also meticulously manicured and bordered. Asparagus d. Myers and Japanese maple blanket and hug the cool sheltered entrance. The driveway and hardscape are exposed black river rock separated by 8-inch wide wooden spacers, and to the right of the drive way entrance an imposing lamp post stands sentry.

This is the home that Bob and Sharon McDonald envisioned and started building in 1975, when there were only four homes on Upper Willow Lake, and Lower Willow Lake was not yet developed.

The Discovery Bay Garden Club presented the winners with a certificate of appreciation, a $25 gift card from the Village Nursery in Brentwood, and placed a sign in their front yard proclaiming their home as the winner of the Home of the Month program. The club is always open to new members. For more information, call Gail Fritchle, Membership Chair, at 634-8659.
