Alton R. Cowan

Alton R. Cowan, 97, resident of Byron, passed away May 15, 2007 at Country Place in Antioch.

Born Nov. 8, 1909 in Brentwood, Alton was the son of Charles and Mary Cowan. He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1968 after 29 years of service, and went to work for the State of California, retiring in 1976.

Alton is survived by his son, Kenneth Alton, and wife, Betty, of Antioch; grandsons, Kent Cowan, and wife, Becky, of Danville, and Steve Cowan, and wife, Chris of Antioch; step-grandsons, Ron Bouslog, and wife, Barbara, Jim Bouslog, and wife, Sherri, and Tim Bouslog, and wife, Julie of Antioch; and eight great-grandchildren, all of Antioch. He is also survived by his brother Roy and sister-in-law Gail Krumland of Antioch. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Lorrene Emily Cowan, and grandson, Keith Cowan.

Alton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service was held at the Brentwood Funeral Home on May 21. Donations can be made to Sutter VNA Hospice, 1900 Bates Ave., Suite A, Concord, CA 94520.
