The event kicks off Sunday, July 1 at 1 p.m. with the pro-am tournament, where amateur bowlers get the chance to lay down strikes and turkeys alongside the pros. Monday and Tuesday, the pros attempt to qualify for Wednesday's final round, the winner of which takes home an $8,000 cash prize.
Tickets are $10 on Monday and Tuesday, $15 on Wednesday or $25 for a three-day pass.
Harvest Park Bowl owner Jim Wangeman explained that such an event is not just a good source of entertainment; it also allows novice bowlers the chance to pick up some much-needed tips from the pros.
"It's like golf," Wangeman said. "Customers like to play the same courses
that the pros play. It's the same thing with bowling. They want to bowl where the pros bowl. It's a significant event here for us."
Those interested in competing alongside the pros in the pro-am tournament have until July 1 to enter. The fee is $55 for the senior division, for bowlers 50 years and older. The fee for adults ages 22 to 49 is $80 and youth bowlers 21 years and under pay just $35. Each entry will also get a certificate for a two-night stay at the Sands Regency Casino Hotel in Reno, Nev.
Event organizers encourage spectators to arrive early to ensure adequate parking, as the lot fills up quickly with motor homes and vans.
