Antioch cadet ranks first

Cadet Alexander Mui of Folsom Drive graduated from the Army and Navy Academy's Officer Candidate Course on May 25. The Officer Candidate Course is a month-long training course for high-school juniors at the Academy designed to test and build leadership ability.

The course runs through April and May, and includes drill test, an oral board, written test, physical training and a boot camp weekend at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton. Mui tied for first place in the OCC class of over 70 cadets with a score of 99.2 percent.

He has attended the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad for three years. He's been involved in the BETA Club, InterAct Club, Key Club, Boy Scout Troop 1910, National Honor Society, and the chess, astronomy, philosophy, letterman's and forensics clubs. He also participates in cross country, soccer, track, marching band and rifle team, all at the varsity level. He has made Honor Roll every grading period and presently holds a GPA of 4.5.

Mui has been awarded the position of Executive Officer of the Army and Navy Academy's Warrior Battalion, which is the second highest position. He was promoted to the rank of Cadet Major on May 25, and will take charge of the Corps of Cadets as a senior.
