Discovery Bay Garden Club awards its June honeree

Mark and Chris Baldwin moved from Los Gatos and became the third owners of their home on the Discovery Bay Golf Course in 1993.

This year they have replaced their driveway with faux slate-stamped cement to complement their stone-faced home. Cement and stone border the flowerbed; river rock and bark cover the ground. Year-round interest is created by the background bushes, which set the stage for the birch trees and the spiky leaves of flax, giant bird, moraea and lilies of the Nile. Snaps, salvia and green cotton add summer color to the slightly mounded lawn. Rosemary drapes half walls, forming an entry and protecting two Japanese maples.

The Discovery Bay Garden Club presented the Baldwins with a certificate of appreciation and placed a sign on their lawn proclaiming they are the Home of the Month winners. The Baldwins will be given a gift card worth $25 from the Village Nursery in Brentwood.

The club is always open to new members. For more information, call Gail Fritchle, Membership Chair, at 634-8659.

Tony Adams has lived at 5722 Drakes Drive for four years, after owning several other residences in Discovery Bay for over 15 years. Tony met Angela and they were married about a year ago.

A remodel of this home began about four years ago and it took two years for the planning and construction to be completed. The end result is a very nice house on two lots, with wonderful front yard landscaping design. When you drive by you'll notice a very well-maintained front yard.

Tony is the owner of Adams Pool Solutions, with offices in five southwestern cities. Angela has been in the mortgage banking business for over 10 years. Tony is very active with boating and speed skiing. He races in the Marathon Speed Skiing competition from Long Beach to Avalon, Catalina and back (in about 55 minutes). Angela and Tony are active in the yacht club and the country club.

The Home Pride award is bestowed in recognition of maintaining beautiful front yard landscaping. The association acknowledges Tony and Angela's effort, quality of work, and offers its congratulations.
