OBITUARIES
Kathleen Angela McGuigan
Kathleen Angela McGuigan, 63, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Discovery Bay on July 3, 2007. She was born in January of 1944 to Jeremiah and Mary Whooley in New York City.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Hugh McGuigan, and two sons, Sean McGuigan (Danielle Vila) of San Francisco and Brendan (Piper) McGuigan of Discovery Bay; brother, Jerry (Eileen "Cookie"); sisters, Maureen (Edward), Eileen (Neil) and Roseleen (Elliot); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Raised in Fort Lee, N.J., she moved with her husband, Hugh, and son, Sean, to Blacklick, Ohio in 1976, where Brendan was born. The family remained there until 1988, when they moved to American Canyon, Calif., and moved for the last time in 1995 to Discovery Bay.
Kathleen's greatest accomplishment and passion in life was raising her two sons, loving them beyond measure. She was generous beyond normal standards, always putting others before herself, not only to her family but also her friends. Strong-minded and opinionated, she was never shy about speaking her mind, but always had an open ear for anyone.
After her boys were well into their teens, Kathleen returned to school, becoming a registered nurse and working for UCSF. After she retired, she spent her time reading, gardening in her vast yard, and cultivating her favorite flowers, roses. Kathleen was also an avid shopper, turning it into a sport at times. She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her; but we all take peace in knowing that she is back with her parents, whom she missed greatly.
The Rosary was held at the Brentwood Funeral Home. A Memorial Service was held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Byron.
