The America First Foundation will sponsor an Aug. 25 event aimed at raising funds for vocational and college scholarships for the children of America's fallen heroes, those military parents who have given life or limb in service to our nation.

The fourth annual Freedom 5K Run, the inaugural Joey Graves Memorial 10K Run/Walk (honoring Discovery Bay's own fallen hero, Joey Graves), the Freedom Car and Motorcycle Show and the Liberty Kids Dash, all accompanied by live entertainment, will be held in Discovery Bay at the old shopping center and surrounding streets.

The event is organized by The America First Foundation and sponsored by local businesses and individuals as a benefit for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund. All entry fees go directly to the scholarship fund and will be used only for scholarships.

Event Day Expo invites local businesses to set up booths. Online registration is being taken at www.active.com or www.theamericafirst foundation.org. Registrants and sponsors may also call Event Director Mike Ketchel at 321-2957. Additional contact numbers are 321-2957 and 392-3835.

As there is a 200-car and 50-bike limit to the Car and Motorcycle Show, and a large turnout is expected, early registration is encouraged.
