The Blast qualified for the championship game, winning three of four games in bracket play against Bronco Division All-Star teams from Richmond, Pittsburg and Rodeo. But in the final game, the team fell to a tough West Diablo Valley team to place second and end its quest for a sectional title.
The Blast endured a 22-game summer schedule in the Contra Costa County PONY Interlock League Bronco Division, which included a number of weekend tournaments.
Other season highlights for the Blast included a second-place finish in the Concord Summer Splash Tournament, where it won three straight before losing the championship game, and a fifth-place finish at the Twin Creeks Stars and Stripes Tournament, where it earned honorable mention for recording the highest runs-per-game average in the tournament.
