Liberty High and the community bade a fond farewell to the Class of 2012 in a ceremony that spoke of values, achievement and persevering in the world at large.

Principal Patrick Walsh congratulated the students and reminded them to listen, share, try to find common ground and stay true to the values they’ve learned at home, at Liberty and in the community.

The big-three principles of compassion, perseverance and integrity were emphasized by Superintendent Eric Volta who admonished graduates to remember that “Liberty is celebrated for its ability to graduate leaders” and gave examples of past leaders who “didn’t always take the path of least resistance.”

Student speaker Joelle Williams expressed pride in her classmates, comparing them to homeowners – they should be ready to repair, renovate, remodel and keep living. “You are the manager of this construction site,” Williams said. “You are not alone. Help is next door, across the street and down the block.”

Class President Ashlee Rister demonstrated the graduates’ appreciation for the school and staff in their gift to the school: the balance of the senior class funds, to be used for scholarships to future graduates of Liberty High.
