Former Oakley resident Jeanne Fraga-Peters wrote from her home in San Jose to say she was recently going through some pictures and came across a shot of her former Oakley Girl Scout troop receiving Cook Badges.

“We were about 12 or 13 years old at the time, around 1952,” Jeanne writes in an e-mail accompanying the photo. “I’m not personally in the (photo) but my job was to keep these pictures for our troop.

“Per my cousin Pauline Bonilla, who still lives in Oakley and is a walking historian of people, places and happenings in Oakley, some of these girls/women and their children still reside around that area. ... We all went on to attend Liberty Union High School in Brentwood together.”

Jeanne thought that some of Oakley’s old-timers might recognize the people in the photo, and then added, “Wow, guess what – I’m one of the old timers! … To all my fellow Girl Scouts, I say hi!”

If you know where any of these young ladies are now, give us a call at 925-634-1441, ext. 111.
