Feb. 23, 1924-June 5, 2012

Gladys Ruth Patterson Brown Korf of Auburn passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on June 5 following a brief illness.

She has been a resident of the Auburn area since 1990 and has devoted much of her time to the Multi-Purpose Senior Center of Auburn and the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Guild. She also belonged to the CrossRoads Fellowship Church of Newcastle, the Red Hat Society, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the AARP.

A member of the 1942 graduating class of Liberty Union High School, Gladys lived in Brentwood about 35 years before moving to Mountain Ranch and then to Auburn. She was married to Fred “Brownie” Brown for 39 years, and Charles Korf for two years.

Gladys will forever be remembered by her four sons, Fred (Mary) Brown of Austin, Texas; Steve (Marie) Brown of Brentwood; Richard (Brenda) Brown of Auburn; and Tom Brown of Pine Grove; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters and two brothers. Gladys touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all those she came in contact with.

Memorial services are scheduled for July 21 at 11 a.m. at the Newcastle Methodist Church.
