The City of Oakley will begin the nomination process for City Council candidates on Monday, July 16. A municipal election will be held Nov. 6 for the three council seats currently held by Mayor Kevin Romick and councilmembers Pat Anderson and Jim Frazier. Oakley councilmembers are elected to four-year terms.

The nomination period for the fall election runs from July 16 through Aug. 10. Should one of the three incumbents whose term is expiring not file by 5 p.m. on Aug. 10, the nomination period would be extended through Aug. 15. The extension would not apply to the three incumbents. Frazier is running for state assembly and will not seek re-election.

Filing papers may be obtained during regular business hours at the Office of the City Clerk at Oakley City Hall, 3231 Main St. Those interested in running for office are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with the city clerk to review and pick up filing papers. A nominee must be a registered voter residing within the city.

For additional information, call the city clerk at 925-625-7013.
