COUNTY LIBRARY COMMISSION
The commission advises the Board of Supervisors and the county librarian, providing a community link to the county library and establishing a forum for the community to express its views regarding goals and operations of the library. The commission assists the Board of Supervisors and the county librarian to provide library services based on assessed public needs and develops and recommends proposals to the Board of Supervisors and the county librarian for the betterment of the library including such efforts as insuring a stable and adequate funding level for the libraries in the county.
The commission, for which two seats are open, meets the fourth Thursday of every other month at 7 p.m. at 75 Santa Barbara in Pleasant Hill.
ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS ADVISORY BOARD
The board assesses family and community needs regarding treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse, and provides input and recommendations on prevention, intervention and treatment services to the Contra Costa Health Services Department, the Board of Supervisors and the communities they serve. The board, for which one seat is open, meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3:45 p.m. at the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division, 1220 Morello Ave., Suite 200 in Martinez.
BYRON MUNICIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
The council advises the Board of Supervisors on land issues and planning matters affecting the community of Byron, and represents the Byron community before the Board of Supervisors and the zoning administrator on such issues as land use, planning and zoning. Applicants must reside within the Byron Municipal Advisory Council boundaries. The council, for which one seat is open, meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Excelsior Middle School, 14301 Byron Highway in Byron.
MENTAL HEALTH COMMISSION
The commission reviews and evaluates the community’s mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems for the director of Health Services and the Board of Supervisors. The commission, for which one family-member seat is open, meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at the Concord Police Department Community Room, 1350 Galindo.
IN-HOME SUPPORT SERVICES PUBLIC AUTHORITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The committee represents the broad constituency of the In-Home Support Services System (IHSS) and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding the IHSS program. The committee, for which one seat is open, meets the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at 500 Ellinwood Way in Pleasant Hill.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE COMMITTEE
The function of the Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) is to review the operations of each of the following at least annually:
1. The county’s ambulance services.
2. The county’s emergency medical care.
3. The county’s first-aid practices.
Regular meetings of the EMCC, for which two seats are open, are held at least four times per year. Meetings convene the second Wednesday of March, June, September and December at 4 p.m. at the Contra Costa County Schools Insurance Group, 550 Ellinwood Way in Pleasant Hill.
FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S TRUST COMMISSION
The commission conducts a biannual needs assessment on family and children’s services in the county. The commission, for which one seat is open, meets the first Tuesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at the Employment and Human Services Department, 40 Douglas Drive in Martinez
FIRST 5 CONTRA COSTA FAMILY AND CHILDREN COMMISSION
The commission adopts an adequate and complete county strategic plan for the support and improvement of early childhood development. The commission, for which one seat is open, meets the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at 1485 Enea Court, Suite 1200 in Concord.
